Lowel Morgan, FCIArb

Managing Partner

Lowel Morgan is the firm’s Managing Partner and a member of the Litigation Department. He was admitted to practice at the Jamaican Bar in 1991 and is widely regarded as an experienced litigator with vast knowledge of personal injury and insurance law. Lowel has had the distinction throughout his years of practice to act as counsel and advise all the major players in the Jamaican Insurance sector. His expertise extends to other critical industries such as the petroleum, hospitality, and telecommunications sector. 

Always seeking to increase his knowledge to better serve his clients, in 2008, Lowel was awarded a Master of Laws Degree in Maritime Law from the University College of London.  His dissertation examined the case for modernizing the Jamaican Arbitration statute. In 2014 he was accepted to membership as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He is also a Notary Public for the island of Jamaica.

Lowel recognizes the importance of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms as an alternative to litigation and uses his excellent negotiation skills to effectively and efficiently assist his clients.  He is also a Court certified Mediator. His areas of practice include maritime law, insurance law, arbitration, contract dispute, employment law, and property law including landlord and tenant disputes.

In his spare time, Lowel gives back to his community. An ardent member of the Moravian Church in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands, he is a member of the governing body where he serves as Treasurer. He is Chairman of the Board of Bethlehem Moravian College, a member of the board of Governors of his alma mater, deCarteret College and serves as a board member of the United Theological College of the West Indies.

Lowel is a regular presenter at conferences for both the General Legal Council and the Jamaican Bar Association. He has also been a featured presenter at the Balkan Legal Conference. He is a member of the Jamaica Bar Association, as well as the General Legal Council where he currently serves as Chairman of the Finance and Accounting Committee. 

An avid sports fan, a member of the Jamdammers Running Club, an Arsenal Fanatic, he loves watching all sports in particular football, cricket and tennis.
